AEthelmearc Chatelaine Report
REGIONAL ACTIVITY
Region # 1 and Region # 3 both had 100% reporting status this quarter.
Hooray! Vivats to Everyone! Thank you Regionals (and local officers) for
doing a terrific job!
Regions # 2 and # 4 are still very "spotty" about reporting.
There has been some modest improvement since I've taken office, especially
in Region # 5, but I feel we still have a long way to go in this area.
I do get fairly regular reports from local chatelaines in Rhydderich Hael,
Courtlandslot, Sterlynge Vayle, and now Delftwood, but many other groups
( total of 0 out of 9 in Region # 2, total of 5 out of 6 in Region # 4,
and total of 3 out of 7 in Region # 5) are not contacting their regional
deputies or sending reports to me directly.
Region # 2 reports recieved this quarter: 0
Region # 4 reports recieved this quarter: 1
Region # 5 reports received this quarter: 3 (Sterlyne Vayle, Cortlandslot,
and Delftwood----Thank You!)
Region # 5 overall is reporting on a more regular basis, and newly elected
chatelaines in the Kingdom are more prompt in contacting me and / or having
their Senechal's also report changes in the office. Some have mentioned
they are utilizing the chatelaine website to familiarize themselves with
office duties and news. Hooray!
Several new local groups have elected new Chatelaines / Castellans to
office in the last two quarters. The Chatelaine Website Roster will be
updated in August to reflect these changes.
These are:
Bera the Blessed (Seneschal, acting Chat) of Sylvan Glen
Lord Fiachna of Misty Highlands
Lady Tahira (Lady Boo) of Blackstone Mountain
Malcolum fiz Willelm of Sterlynge Vayle
Verederosa Dal Sol of Delftwood
Domina Ennoguent filia Bronmael of Canton Riverouge
A couple more "large" demo announcements are being placed in
our Kingdom Newsletter (AEstel) by local group chatelaines. Vivats this
quarter to Westland Mor (Arts & Heritage Festival), Rhyderrich Hael
(Brass Ring), Captain Mudge (Pirate Festival) and Heronter (Viking Village)
! I have been encouraging this trend and hope it continues. St. Swithin's
(?) also promoted the "Potato Festival Demo" previously via
AE Discussion List and AE chatelaine yahoo groups list. I'd like to see
each group / region follow suit. This may be something that could eventually
be designated to the regional deputies in the future to help promote inter-group
cooperation, recruitment efforts and overall PR activities. Our Kingdom
Chronicler has expressed interest in helping this endeavor by granting
designated space in the AEstel Newsletter.
INTERNET ACTIVITY
I've fielded several "new group" and "zip code" related
emails and forwarded them to our Kingdom Seneschal. There has seemingly
been an increase in newcomers who are already established SCA members
moving into this Kingdom....especially along NY- PA borders and Ohio -
PA borders (Stormsport area)... and one from Germany moving into NW. PA.
I've been severely flooded with SCA email activity since mid - May and
have been frantically playing catch up. I am assuming this may be due
to brisk demo activities and various relocations during warmer months
CHATELAINE WEBSITE
The PHP version of the Kingdom Chatelaine and Newcomer's Guide site is
currently being reviewed and edited. We have 2198 hits from this past
quarter. This past March, we had over 1000 hits, but then things leveled
out to roughly 700 hits per month. In March, we also had a boom in returning
visitors, with 76. It’s now also leveled off at constantly around
40 returning visitors each month, which is a jump in people returning
to our site. By far and wide, this quarter, people are researching newcomer
related pages on our site. The chatelaine pages begin ranking at 6th,
with the main page of the office side, and then 8th for the summer newsletter
page. Some keyword search that lead to the site were based on "map
of AEthelmearc", "AEthelmearc map", things relating to
Pennsic, and things relating to garb. Our most popular page continues
to be the map of AEthelmearc. A people from Morgantown, West Virgina,
Newark, Delaware, and Towanda and Broadheadsville, Pa has been researching
office related things. These constitute the majority of return visitors.
Chatelaine 101 Class Website: We had one view of the "What is a
Recruitment Plan" resource on the class site.
My work continues on the Demo and Newcomer Downloadable "Packages".
While behind schedule, I hope to have these completed by mid - Fall season.
PENNSIC WAR ACTIVITY
Plans include:
1) Newcomer Social in AE Royal Encampment, Sunday Aug. 3rd at 2 pm. Light
refreshments served.
2) Newcomer Bus Tours, Location at Battlefield Bus Station near Troll,
Sunday Aug 3rd and Monday Aug. 4th at 3'- 4' ish...Please check bus schedule
at Pennsic Information booth for exact arrival times at this location.
3) Myself and Deputy Ellisiff have volunteered to teach Organizing Your
Chatelaine Office and Cyber Chat classes. Other classes available for
Newcomers and Chatelaine Officers are being offered through Pennsic University.
Check Pennsic Booklets for class schedules.
4) Due to an oversight on my part in scheduling, a Kingdom Chatelaine's
meeting will not take place at War this year. However, last year the Newcomer
Social brought many Chatelaine's together and it's my hope it will do
the same this year!
Faithfully submitted,
Lady Rowan L'Crotha
