There are three tiers that a Chatelaine must adhere to. These levels are Society, Kingdom, and local group. We have collected links to Society guidelines, our office hand book, articles, and other resources so you can access them from one place. We also have an unofficial site where we have begun compiling an online Chatelaine 101 class for all AEthelmearc's Chatelaines. This is comprehensive class with something for everyone. You can view the class as a "guest" and do not need to regisiter for the class.

Policy Resources and Articles:
These are the responsibilities of all Chatelaines of AEthelmearc, as listed in the AEthelmearc's Chatelaine Handbook:

  • Greet Newcomers
  • Help Newcomers feel confortable in your group by introducing them to members who share the same interests, inviting them to participate in activities to encourage everyone's involvement.
  • Help Newcomers get started in the right direction by giving them information about the Kingdom and local heirarchy, encourage them to get a paid membership, help them with garb, tell them about events, newsletters, help them to chose a name and a representative time frame for their persona, and invite them to come to local meetings, for instance. Remember to give newcomers time to adjust, as too much information at once can cause people to lose interest before they truly get started.
  • Organize and conduct demos.
  • Report to the Kingdom Chatelaine or their regional representative quarterly (Jan., April, July, and Oct.)
  • Report to your local group monthly.
  • Keep records of your local chatelaine activities, projects, and reports.
  • Communicate with Newcomers, local members and officers, and other chatelaines.
  • Maintain and Administer a Gold Key.
