Greetings and welcome to AEthelmearc!

AEthelmearc is a Kingdom of the Society for Creative Anachronism (or SCA). The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our “Known World” consists of 20 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which feature tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, various classes & workshops, and more. We have a variety of activities for newcomers to become involved with such as armored combat, rapier combat, archery, cooking, sewing, illumination, weaving … and the list goes on and on!

I am Lady Elizabeth (Libby), the Kingdom Chatelaine, which really is a fancy way of saying Newcomer’s Officer. It is my job to help new people find their local group, feel welcomed, find clothing, and just generally have FUN! We know that sometimes in the beginning the SCA can be a bit overwhelming, but don’t worry! We have all been new to the SCA and know how that feels. We are here to help! This website has a wealth of information to help get you started, so please have a look around.

However, the best way to learn and become involved is to show up and jump right in! We welcome Newcomers to any and all of our meetings and practices and events. Please fill out the Contact form so we can learn more about you and get you in touch with your local group Chatelaine.
